History Fact

Wine Making dates back to the Celts era, then developed by the Romans, more than 2000 years ago! Burgundy recognition dates back to Medieval time with Monks and Monasteries crafted the best crus for the Pope itself!

Geographic Fact :

Burgundy represents 28,841 hectares under vines, accounting for 3% of all commercial wine growing in France. The Region is located in the eastern part of France and benefits of a broadly continental climate.

The two major grapes grown in Burgundy are Chardonnay for the whites and Pinot Noir for the Reds.

Burgundy is divided in 4 subregions spreading over a North to South stripe: Chablis, Côte d'Or (Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune), Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais.

Technic Fact :

Chablis is famous for its Mineral and Zesty Chardonnays. the North of the Cote d'Or locates some of the world best Pinot Noir produced in villages such as Vosne Romanee and Gevrey ChambertinThe South of the Cote d'Or locates some of the world best Chardonnay produced in villages such as Meursault and Puligny Montrachet Cote Chalonaise with Villages like Givry And the Maconais with Pouilly-Fuisse.

Well, that was only a few examples because the Burgundy has 84 AOC! 7 Regions, 44 villages and Premier Crus and 33 Grand crus give the pyramidal hierarchy of the region.

2/3 of the wines produced come from the Regional AOCs But the Grand Crus of the Burgundy contributes to the majestic of the reputation of the region World Wide!

Among the Grand Cru are the famous Chablis Grand Cru; Chambertin ; Romanée-Conti Corton and Montrachet.
